The beautiful valley of
swat, with its rushing torrents ,lakes, fruit laden orchards and
flower bedecked slops , is an idyllic valley it has a rich historical
past, .it has been described as "Udayana" (the garden) in ancient
Hindu epics where the great Alexander of Macedonia fought and won some
of his major battles before crossing over to the plains of the five
rivers. Swat was once the cradle of Buddhism where at one time more
than 1400 monasteries flourished .It was the hub of the Ghandhara
school of sculpture which was an expression of Gracco-Roman style
mixed with the local Buddhist traditional sculpture the valley of Swat
sprawls over 10,350 Sq.Kms. Normal summer temperature is maximum 21C
(70F) and minimum 7.22C (45F).Tourist season is all year round .The
main town of the valley is Saidu sharif where a museum houses most
of the archaeological finds ,excavated in the area. Behrain (Two
Rivers) is also the great place where two rivers cross each other
which create great scene to watch. |
